<p>The 2.4L ECOTEC^&reg; DOHC direct injection 4-cylinder engine exhibits spirited performance via its Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) configuration and Variable Valve Timing (VVT), which helps to optimize torque across a wide range of engine speeds.</p><p>This engine is also extremely fuel efficient¹ &ndash; simply pressing the ECO button allows you to switch to a fuel-saving mode, which can increase your vehicle&rsquo;s fuel economy when compared to normal operation. All Equinox&reg; models feature a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and electronic range select. This transmission also features a hill-hold assist function, which makes it easier to shift out of Park when the vehicle is parked on a hill.
